Have you ever met a dog owner who doesn’t believe their dog is the best breed?
We haven’t, and we meet A LOT of dog owners.
Our canine friends come in all shapes and sizes, and they can have their individual tastes of lifestyles.
So, how do you decide if you are looking for a new pet?
There are some things all new canine family members need:
- Socialisation
- Training and effort from us to understand how to read their signals. Investing in education and socialisation of us, our family members and our pets is the best way to keep everyone safe and happy at home. This is as important for all dogs regardless of their size or breed.
- Veterinary care, health checks, and preventative programs. Having a relationship with your local vet is the best way to keep your furry family members happy and healthy for life
- Mental stimulation and exercise
What type of lifestyle you have can also impact what breed is best for you. Does your ideal weekend involve Netflix or 10km runs? If you want a running buddy, then working dogs or ‘gun dogs’ are the best breeds to look for. If you are seeking a couch companion, then usually a smaller breed is going to be the best fit.
When considering adding a new family member, we recommend that you do some internet stalking, get advice from your local vet before swiping right on a breed and going out for a look see.
Do you know what our favourite breed is? Loved. The second favourite; rescued. If you are thinking of adopting a new family pet, think about giving a pet a second chance for a happy home and visit your local RSPCA or animal shelter.
